California Privacy Notice (CCPA/CPRA)

This Privacy Notice for California Residents supplements the information contained in the Privacy Policy of LaneCortex LLC ("we," "us," or "our") and applies solely to visitors, users, and others who reside in the State of California ("consumers" or "you"). We adopt this notice to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).

  • Commercial Information: Records of personal property (home ownership), products or services considered, electric bill amounts, roof shading details, project timeline.
  • Internet or Other Electronic Network Activity: Browsing history, search history, information regarding a consumer's interaction with an Internet website, application, or advertisement. Form submission data, TrustedForm certificate data.
  • Geolocation Data: Approximate location based on ZIP code and IP address.

2. Sources of Personal Information

We collect personal information from the following sources:

  • Directly from you: When you fill out forms on our website
  • Automatically: Through cookies, web beacons, and tracking technologies (including TrustedForm)
  • Third-party services: ZIP code lookup services, Google Places API
  • Your device: Browser type, operating system, device information

3. Business or Commercial Purposes for Collecting Personal Information

We may use or disclose the personal information we collect for one or more of the following business or commercial purposes:

  • To fulfill or meet the reason for which the information is provided (e.g., providing savings estimates and connecting you with installers).

What constitutes a "sale"? Under CCPA/CPRA, a "sale" is broadly defined as disclosing personal information to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration. When we provide your information to installers and lead aggregators who compensate us, this constitutes a "sale" under California law, even though you requested this service.

6. Your California Privacy Rights

The CCPA and CPRA provide California residents with specific rights regarding their personal information:

A. Right to Know (Access and Data Portability)

You have the right to request that we disclose to you:

  • The categories of personal information we collected about you
  • The categories of sources from which we collected personal information
  • Our business or commercial purpose for collecting or selling personal information
  • The categories of third parties with whom we share personal information
  • The specific pieces of personal information we collected about you
B. Right to Delete

You have the right to request that we delete any of your personal information that we collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions (e.g., to complete a transaction, detect fraud, comply with legal obligations, or exercise free speech rights).

C. Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing

You have the right to direct us to not sell or share your personal information at any time. To exercise this right, visit our Do Not Sell My Info page.

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

If your browser or device sends us a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information under CCPA/CPRA. When GPC is detected, we will not sell or share your personal information with our partners, but you may still use our site and access requested content such as free guides.

D. Right to Correct Inaccurate Information (CPRA)

You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you, taking into account the nature of the information and the purposes for which we process it.

E. Right to Limit Use and Disclosure of Sensitive Personal Information (CPRA)

If we collect "sensitive personal information" (as defined by CPRA), you have the right to limit our use of such information to purposes necessary to perform our services or provide goods. Note: We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by CPRA (e.g., social security numbers, financial account information, precise geolocation, health data).

F. Right to Non-Discrimination

You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights. We will not:

  • Deny you goods or services
  • Charge you different prices or rates
  • Provide you a different level or quality of goods or services
  • Suggest that you may receive a different price, rate, or quality of goods/services

7. How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise the access, data portability, deletion, or correction rights described above, please submit a verifiable consumer request to us by:

Verification Process

Only you, or an authorized agent you designate, may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information. To verify your identity, we may ask you to:

  • Provide the email address and phone number you used on our site
  • Confirm your property address or ZIP code
  • Provide other information we have on file to match against our records

Response Timing

We will respond to verifiable consumer requests within 45 days of receipt. If we require more time (up to 90 days total), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing. We will deliver our written response electronically unless you request otherwise.

8. Authorized Agents

You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. The authorized agent must provide proof of authorization and you may be required to verify your identity directly with us.

9. No Fee for Exercising Rights

We do not charge a fee to process or respond to your verifiable consumer request unless it is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded. If we determine that the request warrants a fee, we will tell you why and provide you with a cost estimate before completing your request.

10. Changes to This Notice

We reserve the right to amend this California Privacy Notice at our discretion and at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
